Introducing Lighthouse 2025: A Tribute to the Guiding Hand
At Mac-Talla, we’ve always been inspired by Islay’s raw beauty and the sense of guidance its lighthouses provide to those navigating the island’s rugged shores. With our Lighthouse series, we wanted to celebrate that symbolism in whisky making—how knowledge, craft, and instinct guide spirit safely from cask to bottle.
Following the inaugural Lighthouse release, which honoured the guiding light, we are proud to unveil Lighthouse 2025. This second edition shifts focus to the guiding hand—a tribute to the human touch, the skill, and the decisions that shape great Scotch whisky.
As our Production Director, Graeme Mackeddie, explains:

Crafted with Our Community
For this release, we wanted to do something special. We invited our Lighthouse partners—a hand-picked network of whisky retailers and bars across the UK and EU—to join us in shaping the final spirit. Their insight, passion, and expertise have been invaluable in bringing Lighthouse 2025 to life.
Together, we’ve created a whisky that not only reflects Islay’s maritime soul, but also the perspectives of a global whisky community.
The Whisky
Lighthouse 2025 is crafted from a carefully selected combination of:
First Fill Bourbon
First Fill Oloroso & PX
First Fill Bordeaux Barrique
Finished in Virgin American Oak
This recipe has produced a rich and indulgent Islay single malt with layers of complexity and balance.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Treacle toffees and milk chocolate, lifted with subtle dried fruits and spice.
Palate: Chewy caramels dipped in milk chocolate, gently balanced by peat smoke and soft wood spice.
Finish: Long and indulgent, with toasted coconut—like a caramel log in a glass.
ABV: 54.7%
