What is a Mac-Talla Lighthouse?

A Mac-Talla Lighthouse is a network of trusted partners and guides on your Journey of Taste with Mac-Talla — helping you discover new expressions, flavours and experiences along the way. Much like a lighthouse guiding a ship towards home, they offer a point of reference as you navigate your own whisky journey.

This year’s Lighthouse bottling is a discovery of deep peat, matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks.

The cask recipe brings together three distinct components:

63% first-fill Oloroso sherry butt

23% first-fill PX sherry butt

14% refill PX sherry hogshead

The result is a whisky with lasting complexity and boldness, where rich sherry character meets the earthy, maritime character of Islay.

Bottled at 52.3% ABV, Lighthouse Edition 2026 is non-chill filtered and contains no added colour, allowing the character of the whisky and its maturation to take centre stage.

What does it taste like?

Colour: Honeyed Apricot

Nose: Subtle apricot and mango, before a soft peat smoke begins to emerge.

Palate: It opens with earthy and maritime notes, followed by rich dark chocolate, flaky sea salt and cherries, creating a long-lasting combination of sweet, deep peat.
